These are the main points to follow when starting up the pool:

  • Fill the pool up to the overflow level (10 cm below the edge), go to the technical room, set the 6-way valve to the “Filtration” position and open the valves mounted on the pump intake and the air vent valve mounted on the top of the filter.
  • Let a few drops of water flow out of the vent valve and then close it. Open the valve mounted on the filter delivery and start the pump from the control panel. After a few minutes, read the operating pressure on the pressure gauge located on the top of the filter and note this value.
  • The filter will need to be cleaned when the value you noted is exceeded by approximately 0.7 atmospheres. Once this is done, close the bottom intake valve and place the thermometer in the skimmer basket.
  • Check the capacity in cubic meters of the chosen pool and multiply it by 15 grams. Take the calculated quantity of chlorine, dissolve it in a bucket of water and pour it on the pool water.
  • Leave the filtration system running for 24 continuous hours. Check the water temperature and when it has reached 20 degrees, perform a PH analysis with the appropriate test. Depending on your needs, correct with ph-minus (15 grams for every cubic meter of pool water) to lower the value if the pH is alkaline or with ph-plus (15 grams for every cubic meter of pool water) to raise the value if the pH is acidic.
The optimal pH value is between 7.2 and 7.6.
Always dissolve the ph-minus and ph-plus acid in a bucket of water and then pour it into the pool. The daily dose is normally sufficient to lower or raise the pH by 0.2 units. If necessary, repeat the treatment on several subsequent days but never double the daily dosage.
During pH stabilization, the filtration system must be kept in continuous operation.

If the stabilization process should last more than a week, place a 90% trichlorine tablet in the skimmer basket. In the initial water treatment, it is advisable to also introduce a concentrated anti-algae product in a dose of 1 litre per 100 cubic metres of water to prevent possible algae growth.

WATER ANALYSIS WITH “MINI-TESTER PH / CL” OR LITMUS PAPER

To check the pH and free chlorine (D.P.D. method), rinse the test tube well and fill it with pool water taken from at least 30 cm deep; bring the water level to the level indicated on the test tube, insert a Phenol Red tablet in the part for the PH analysis and a DPD1 tablet in the part for the chlorine; Cap the test tube and shake well until the tablets have completely dissolved; compare the colour of the water obtained with the relative colour scales; based on the differences in color compared to the ideal values of pH (between 7.2 and 7.6) and free residual chlorine (between 0.6 and 1.5 mg/l) proceed to carry out any corrections that may be necessary. Never touch the tablets with your fingers to avoid altering the measurement values.

To further simplify the analysis of the water, you can also use a litmus paper system. Simply take a paper from the container, immerse it for 1 second in the pool water and compare the color obtained with that printed on the container. The difference in color will provide the parameter for correcting the chlorine or pH.
